The problem is not the race. It is the hour after it.

Marina Bay road closures run from 00:01 on 7 October to 05:30 on 13 October 2026 — seven days, not three. On race days the roads around the circuit close entirely during track activity. When the chequered flag falls at around 22:00 on Sunday, tens of thousands of people leave at once, ride-hailing surges, taxi queues form, and the last trains out of City Hall go at 00:45. The walk from the gates to anywhere a normal car can reach is longer than it looks in evening shoes.

Merge cannot drive through a closed road. What Merge does is agree a reachable pickup point with you before the weekend, hold the car there, and keep one WhatsApp thread open so nobody is standing in a crowd wondering which car is theirs.

Taxis and motorcycles may use the Raffles Boulevard Access Lane outside track hours; private hire vehicles do not have that access. Merge holds no special access, priority lane or closure exemption.

Why hourly hire wins on race night.

A one-way ride books you into somebody else's timing. Hourly hire keeps the same vehicle and the same chauffeur for the whole block, so the plan can change — dinner runs long, you want to leave before the podium, someone in the group needs to go back early — without renegotiating anything. Stops within Singapore are unlimited and are not charged individually. On the busiest night of the Singapore calendar, the difference between having a car and finding a car is the entire evening.

Hourly hire is priced by time, not distance. A slow crawl out of Marina Bay costs the same as an empty road.

What that adds up to on race night

Toyota Alphard, hourly hire, 3-hour minimum — S$210, plus the S$15 late-night pickup if you leave after 23:00. Total S$225.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class, hourly hire, 4-hour minimum — S$680, plus the S$15 late-night pickup. Total S$695.

The race finishes around 22:00. If your pickup is after 23:00 — and on Sunday night it usually is — the late-night charge applies. We would rather you read it here than find it later.

Book race weekend early, and here is why that is not just a sales line.

Singapore has a finite number of chauffeur-driven vehicles and one weekend a year when everyone wants one at the same hour. Merge accepts same-day and last-minute requests subject to availability, and the standard minimum lead time is one hour — but on 9 to 11 October the constraint is not our booking system, it is the number of cars in the country. The earlier the journey is confirmed, the more likely it is that the vehicle you actually wanted is the one that arrives.

Airport transfers run normally through race week — the closures affect the Marina Bay area, not the expressway from Changi. Arrivals include 60 minutes of waiting from your actual landing time, your chauffeur meets you inside the arrival hall with your name on a tablet, and the airport surcharge and parking are already in the fare. Can my chauffeur pick me up at the circuit gate?

Not at the gate itself — the roads immediately around the circuit are closed during track activity. Merge agrees a specific reachable pickup point with you before the weekend and confirms it in writing, so you know exactly where to walk to.

When do the road closures start?

The Marina Centre and Padang area is closed from 00:01 on 7 October to 05:30 on 13 October 2026. Some roads reopen during morning peak hours on selected dates.

Will my fare go up because it is race weekend?

No. Merge fares are fixed before you travel and do not surge. The only additions are the published charges — late-night pickup, additional stops, child seats and ERP if incurred.

The race ends late. Does the late-night surcharge apply?

If your pickup is between 23:00 and 05:59 it does, once per booking, at S$15. Race night pickups usually fall inside that window.

Should I book a transfer or hourly hire?

If you are going straight there and straight back at known times, a transfer is simpler and cheaper. If your evening might move, hourly hire keeps the same car and chauffeur available and lets you leave when you choose.

How far in advance should I book for the Grand Prix?

As early as you can. Availability, not lead time, is the constraint on that weekend.

Can you coordinate several vehicles for our guests?

Yes. Each guest receives their own chauffeur and vehicle details before pickup, and corporate accounts with consolidated invoicing are available on approval.

What if I cannot find my chauffeur?

Message the same WhatsApp thread your booking is on and it is escalated to a person immediately.
